Bezzina Foundation is a non-profit organization that is aimed at making Kenya a better place for everyone, especially the less privileged and less fortunate, old-aged and street kids. It is an organization that is based on the principles of pure humanitarian, transparency, non-partisan, equity and equality, through accountability of its mandate.
At BEZZINA FOUNDATION, we believe that everyone has a right and privilege to live and enjoy equally what the universe has to offer. We believe that love and kindness is the only thing that we can share equally and without discrimination. Therefore, in the pursuit of thriving in this more complicated modern day life, we make sure that we reach out to the most affected people in the society and try to give them a smile and hope, and the energy to face tomorrow…like envisioned by one of the best and re-known authors, in his writings “….when today fails to offer the justification for hope, tomorrow becomes the only grail worth pursuing”. In that regard, we strive hard to restore hope to the already depressed and seemingly hopeless.
To be kind and merciful to others as Christ is merciful to us; to imitate and emulate his love and kindness to others. it is in God’s love that we became to be and it is in the same love that our true identity is revealed.
AMANI NA WEMA (PEACE AND KINDNESS) …. Kindness and mindfulness of others; these are some of the most beautiful virtues one can have. Nurturing such endeavors is our joint responsibility.
We are made up of a young and highly motivated team with the same belief as their ultimate goal. Most of them come from very humble backgrounds and have mastered the spirit of giving and serving others, not because they have a lot to offer but because they have experienced the inadequacy and how it feels to have not! We have received compliments from the society, and we continue to pride ourselves in our commitment to making life a thrive than a struggle, through provision of basic amenities and hope to the less privileged and employing integrity in our calling and course at all times.
Having started in 1994, the foundation was founded by his humbleness Rev.Fr. George Bezzina, as a solo philanthropist: helping street kids within Ruiru town. He helped in transformation of many kids into responsible citizens, educating them, feeding them, and sheltering them. He vehemently and adamantly educated against the vices of drug abuse among the street kids and the youths at large. He was involved in many youth build-up campaigns aimed at bringing up purposeful and focused youths in the society. The majority of the youths whom he educated and helped have graduated in various courses of life and intergrated with the society as responsible adults. Some have embarked on charity works through the same foundation, therefore, appreciating the act of giving back to the society. He also helped in settling and relocating the Sudanese refugees in the country. Many benefitted from the food centre that was established in 1995 in Ruiru town under his management. At this centre, he fed hundreds of street kids until his transfer to Westlands in Nairobi in the early 2000 to serve his priesthood duties there. His love and passion to help and serve others neither withered nor faltered despite relocating to the leafy suburbs of Nairobi. He continued with his charitable work all through, which is /and has always been to help the poor people, those under privileged and old-age, while still serving God’s calling as a priest. In the unity of all the kids (now gentlemen) that ever been in his humbleness Rev.Fr. George Bezzina’s support and care, have once again come together under his leadership and guidance, to kick-start this foundation and its franchise for the most needy kids and families.
